Altimont Out At Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn has kicked pitcher Thomas Altimont off the team following his arrest for kidnapping and assault.

Altimont was arrested Friday on allegations that he held a woman against her will and assaulted her. Police say Altimont was arrested by officers responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Altimont is a junior right-hander who transferred to the Razorbacks from McClennan Community College. He was 1-0 in five appearances this season.

Van Horn announced the move Monday.

Boston Massacre

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) – Former NFL wide receiver David Boston has been arrested on an assault charge in South Florida during a night of drinking.

Boca Raton police say Boston, 33, punched Kimberly Gardner twice in the head Wednesday night. Gardner suffered a gash that required stitches.

Police say the assault happened at Gardner’s house, where Boston had been staying and was witnessed by her friend. Police say Boston drank bottles of vodka and wine and then asked for a ride to a hotel. The fight happened after the ride was refused.

Boston last played in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden has been released after spending the weekend in jail.

Walden was arrested Friday on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend at their apartment near Green Bay. He was released Monday on a $1,000 signature bond.

Authorities say Walden’s girlfriend was treated for a head laceration at a Green Bay hospital.

Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski says Walden’s girlfriend has changed her story. He says they have to conduct more interviews before he decides if charges will be filed.

Walden, 26, started all 11 games this season and played in the team’s 27-15 Thanksgiving Day victory over the Lions. He is scheduled to return to court Dec. 7.
