Denver district attorney’s spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough said Tuesday that Moreno is also charged with failure to have proof of insurance. He is due back in court March 2 after police issued a summons.

Denver police Lt. Matthew Murray said Moreno was pulled over Feb. 1 after driving 70 mph in an interstate construction zone where the speed limit was 45 mph.

The Broncos issued a written statement saying they take the incident very seriously and will monitor the case while the legal process runs its course.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Denver Broncs defensive lineman Ryan McBean was arrested on suspicion of stalking.

McBean turned himself in Friday and is free after posting a $50,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 28.

McBean will be co-represented by attorneys Harvey Steinberg and Peter Schaffer, who also is McBean’s agent.

“We will defend all the charges vigorously,” Schaffer said Monday night. “They are completely unfounded. After he’s vindicated, we will avail ourselves of all legal options on Ryan’s behalf.”

A fourth-year pro out of Oklahoma State, McBean was at practice Monday as the Broncos returned from their bye week. Denver coach John Fox said the team was aware of the arrest and was “gathering information.”

“We’ll let the legal process run its course,” Fox said.

McBean is the second Broncos player arrested since the NFL lockout was lifted this summer. Kicker Matt Prater was arrested on charges of drunken driving and fleeing the scene of an accident Aug. 2.

If convicted of stalking, McBean could face up to three years in prison.
