TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Authorities said former NBA player Loren Woods was arrested on DUI charges in Tampa.

Jail records show Woods, 33, refused a blood-alcohol test when he was arrested early Wednesday. He was later released on $2,500 bail.
According to the NBA’s website, Woods played for six years, including a brief stint with the Miami Heat.
Woods was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge and a felony count of bribery of a public servant.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Former Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Elijah Dukes was arrested by Tampa police on drug charges.

The arrest happened early Thursday when Dukes’ 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was pulled over for a traffic violation.
Police say they noticed a small bag of marijuana on Dukes’ lap, and he then tried to stick the drug in his mouth as if he was going to ingest it.
Officers also noticed a marijuana cigarette tucked behind Dukes’ ear.
The 27-year-old is being held on $4,750 bail at the Hillsborough County Jail. He faces charges of tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug.
Dukes has been arrested five times in the past year, mostly on driving offenses.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Houston Astros outfielder Jordan Schafer has been arrested in Florida on a felony charge of possession of marijuana.

According to an arrest report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Schafer was arrested early Tuesday morning in Tampa after a traffic stop and was released on a $2,000 cash bond.
The 25-year-old was acquired from Atlanta as part of the trade for Michael Bourn in July. He hit .245 with one home run, six RBI and seven stolen bases in 30 games for Houston after the trade. He appeared in 52 games with a .240 average and 15 stolen bases for the Braves this season.
The Astros declined to comment on Schafer’s arrest.
